Trying to install CUDA Toolkit for 20.04 on 21.10, and I still don't know if it works. And conda has to be configured to be default environment (otherwise, you don't have access to cudatoolkit). Now conda itself opens another can of worms: conda is a separate environment than python3's standard pip3, so we have to install all modules used through pip3, again using conda. Standard approach recommended is to install it through Miniconda/Anaconda, conda install cudatoolkit. Without it, GPU is not accessible for numba. This is what gives us nvidia-smi and related functionality, from what little I understand and/or it's the layer on top of GPU, with which other programs communicate, for example, numba module from python3.ĬUDA Toolkit: some LVVM files that numba needs to run CUDA. Ubuntu recommends 510.ĬUDA: this is related to Nvidia.
